Lundberg Family Farms Celebrating Over 70 Years of Environmental Stewardship. Since 1937, the Lundberg family has been growing healthy, great tasting rice while respecting and sustaining the Earth. Today, the third generation carries on the family heritage by using eco-positive farming methods that produce wholesome, healthful rice, rice cakes, rice chips and risottos while improving and protecting the environment for generations to come. All the Organic and Eco-Farmed rice is grown with a concern for the environment. The soil, air, and water is treated as a sustainable unit, respecting the delicate balance of nature. Instead of being totally dependent on the use of synthetic chemicals like some of their neighbors, they use highly productive cover crops of clovers, and certain beans & vetches on Eco-Farmed fields, which furnish a portion of the needed fertility. Crop rotation is practiced on all fields. Cover crops periodically mature and soil is areated and rested. Straw is turned under to replenish the organic matter and to keep the air clean. Migrating waterfowl come to the fields in winter. The birds eat grain left in the fields after harvest, provide natural fertilizer, and aid in straw decomposition. Lundberg Family Farms does it’s best for the land by leaving the soil, air, and water in better condition than it started. It is an active member of the Non GMO Project, a non-profit collaboration of manufacturers, retailers, processors, distributors, farmers, seed companies and consumers with a shared belief that everyone deserves an informed choice about whether or not to consume genetically modified products, and ensure the sustained availability of non-GMO choices. www.lundberg.com
