Virunga Artisans Baskets
Good Earth carries a wonderful line of hand made baskets by Virunga Artisans who are dedicated to bettering the lives of the local peoples in the Virunga Bwindi region (living adjacent to the mountain gorillas of Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda).
They seek to provide local artisans with assistance in developing value-added products from local resources, creating markets for viable crafts, and encourage working conditions consistent with the integrity of local economic and social values.
In doing so, they  bring to the marketplace products of visual and tactile delight, as well as outstanding quality.
All of the proceeds from the sale of Virunga Artisan products go to the artists in fair trade wages or the International Gorilla Conservation Program.
Woven by the women of Nkuringo, all these Ugandan Baskets are of traditional design. Each artisan has developed her own style and personally tags and signs her work. Each basket takes between 20-30 hours to weave. Most of the women have to walk several hours to a well for fresh water each day and there is no electricity to work in the evening, so each basket can often take weeks to complete. There will always be variation in size, shape and color as each artist has her own style and the color of the grasses vary as the seasons change. Come in and see for yourself.
Organic Wallaby Yogurt is Local
Wallaby Yogurt Company located in American Canyon, California (Napa County) was born out of an adventure that began Down Under. During the Christmas season of 1992, founders Jerry and Faith traveled to Australia for vacation. They were awed by the country’s many natural wonders and, interestingly enough, the yogurt. It was fresh, subtly sweet and creamy in a way that they weren’t used to finding in the U.S. They wondered why this style of yogurt was not available back home – they were sure that Americans would enjoy its unique qualities. So Jerry and Faith decided to quit their technology industry jobs and dedicate themselves to building a yogurt company that would make this happen. They already knew what they would name it – Wallaby Yogurt – in honor of where the idea got its start.
Today, what began as an Australian adventure continues in the form of Wallaby Yogurt Company. As a business, Wallaby strives to maintain a company culture that emphasizes respect and concern for all people. This effort is evidenced in the company’s commitment to sharing its success with its employees and producing only organic products of the highest quality.
The organic milk comes from small family farms in nearby Sonoma and Marin counties.

Living Intentions
Living Intentions has an intention. That is,  to create healthy, raw, organic snacks that are fun, exciting, and full of life. Using the finest ingredients for their  sprouted nuts and granolas they have created  a delcious line of ‘Gone Nuts’ &  Granola.
All the nuts are soaked in water overnight.  During this time, amazing dormant enzymes and nutrients are activated and existing fats are transformed into healthier amino acids. This process is called germination. Live enzymes allow the nuts to be easily digested and the nutrients readily absorbed by our bodies.
Then they season and gently air-dry the nuts at low temperatures around 115 degrees. Drying at low temperatures, instead of roasting, protects all of the live enzymes and nutrients.  The end result is LIVE nuts with tons of nutrition, personality, and flavor.
Check our raw food aisle and go to http://web.mac.com/livingintentions for more information.
